Conductive slip rings are increasingly being applied to equipment, so the quality requirements for conductive slip rings are also relatively strict, which depends on the technology of the manufacturer you choose? Below is a summary of the common problems that conductive slip rings encounter in their application process.
Common problems with the use of conductive slip rings:
1. Signal conductive slip ring interference is too large
Conductive slip rings can be used to transmit power and signals, but there is interference between the power and signals, which can be divided into internal interference and external interference. Designers must have a clear understanding of the type of signal, and for special signals, dedicated wires must be used for internal and external shielding. For the already formed conductive slip ring, if it is found that the signal of the conductive slip ring is interfered with, the external wire can be shielded by oneself. If it still cannot be solved, the internal structure of the conductive slip ring can only be redesigned.
2. The protection level does not match the usage environment
The conductive slip ring, which is usually not specifically specified, has a protection level of IP54. Some customers, without additional protection, placed them in places with waterproof requirements, causing water to enter the conductive slip ring and causing internal short circuits, resulting in the failure of the conductive slip ring.
3. Circuit design without protection caused by unprotected circuits
Usually, when conductive slip rings leave the factory, they are tested for insulation performance at a high voltage of more than 5 times the working voltage. Even so, in some working conditions, they cannot meet the requirements, causing the conductive slip ring to be broken down and short circuited and burned.
4. Short circuit of conductive slip ring
When the conductive slip ring experiences a short circuit after being used for a period of time, it is possible that the lifespan of the conductive slip ring has expired, or that the overload of the conductive slip ring has caused it to burn out. If a new conductive slip ring shows a short circuit, it is usually caused by problems with the insulation material inside the conductive slip ring, direct short circuit between the brush wire and the brush wire, wire breakage, and other reasons. This must be detected using exclusion method.
5. Overloading and burning of conductive slip ring
The maximum current allowed by the conductive slip ring is a safe operating current value determined by a combination of factors such as the cross-sectional area of the conductive ring, the contact area of the brush, the pressure between the brush and the contact surface, and the rotational speed. Beyond this value, the conductive slip ring may generate heat in mild cases, ignite on the contact surface in severe cases, or even form welding points between the brush and the conductive ring. Although a certain safety factor will be considered during the design phase of the conductive slip ring, it is recommended that customers provide the manufacturer of the conductive slip ring with the maximum current actually used.
6. The conductive slip ring does not rotate smoothly
Excluding issues with the assembly of conductive slip rings and the selection of bearings, the common cause of such problems is that customers do not specify seismic requirements when selecting conductive slip rings, and the environment in which they are used has strong vibrations. Causing damage to the thin-walled bearings inside the conductive slip ring, and cracking of the plastic spindle.
